ABOUT US

We are more than a club

Our mission at Team OPTI Baseball is to foster a supportive environment that nurtures and cultivates the fundamental baseball skills necessary for young athletes to succeed and grow. We do this through fundamental skill development focusing on the basics of the sport and then progressing to unique positional needs specific to the athlete.

Our team of coaches represents decades of experience both coaching and playing baseball at the collegiate and professional level. We believe it is this level of experience and professionalism that allows our athletes the best opportunity for success.

We are passionate about baseball and our goal is to support athletes in their journey. See you on the diamond!

  • The California Team Opti is a California Valley-based travel team. We are dedicated to hard work and the development of fundamental baseball skills.

The team traveled to Columbia, Canada, to compete in a post-season tournament and exhibition play. Sound fundamentals and good work ethics are essential for Team Opti players. The goal of Team Opti is to put together the most well-rounded, talented team from the California Valley.

Team Opti is three teams based on age. They consist of 13-15-year-olds, 16-year-olds and 17-18-year-olds. Team members are selected from Opti Baseball Camps, with the majority of players being selected from the annual Martin Luther King Holiday camp held at Billy Hebert Field. The selection committee is composed of scouts, college coaches, and Opti personnel. All trips are sanctioned by U.S.B.F./U.S.A. Baseball.

    Our Philosophy

The Team Opti philosophy is based on our love for the game. We believe that one can learn the game of baseball by playing games at a high level of competition. We also believe that you continue to play if you win, so our priority is to field the best team possible. Following is a list of some of our other beliefs:

  • Don’t expect a player to know something that hasn’t been taught by you.
  • Teach sound fundamentals continually.
  • Teach players to respect: teammates, opponents, umpires, parents, their country and to show leadership in all forms.
  • Practice Hard! Play Hard!
  • Never say “| can’t” (Be a can-do person).
  • The teams that make the least defensive mistakes will win.
  • Speed and a good arm can not be taught, so treat them well.
  • Be in condition.
  • Be strong mentally . . . Take criticism.
  • Always be a student. . . As a player.
  • Always be a student… As a coach.
  • Make the 4th out.
  • Be positive.
  • Always expect a lot out of your players and you will get more than you expect.
